The Parliamentary Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne informed lawmakers that the report of the committee assigned to examine Jaffna District MP Ramanathan Archchuna’s behavior will be presented.
Dr. Wickramaratne mentioned that the document was prepared by a dedicated committee formed by him to review complaints about the alleged misconduct of MP Archchuna.
The panel was led by Deputy Chairperson of Committees Hemali Weerasekara and included Minister Vijitha Herath and MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
The Speaker also clarified that the findings will be sent to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for detailed examination.
Moreover, he responded to concerns raised about the protection of Parliament members.
He explained that, after evaluating several appeals from MPs regarding their safety, the issue has been sent to the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) for necessary measures.
