The ‘Basnayake Nilame’ of Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya, Dishan Gunasekara, arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (10) to give a statement.
His visit follows a recent summons from the CID, requesting his presence for an official inquiry.
Speaking to the media upon his arrival, Gunasekara revealed that a team of plainclothes police officers had entered his Matara residence—where only his 84-year-old mother stays—and conducted a search without a warrant.
He stated that the officers claimed to be looking for former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon, who remains in hiding to evade arrest.
Gunasekara further asserted, “I am not a politician… as a citizen, I urge the authorities to put an end to such unauthorized actions.”
