Two Arrested for Carrying Unsafe Coconut Oil.!

The Police Special Task Force (STF) has apprehended two individuals for conveying and holding a stockpile of coconut oil considered unsuitable for public consumption.

The operation was executed last night (09) with the cooperation of personnel from the STF’s Aralaganwila Camp and a group from the Public Health Office in Polonnaruwa, authorities confirmed.

One suspect was detained while ferrying the coconut oil consignment in a lorry within the Karmanthapuraya vicinity of Polonnaruwa, whereas the other was taken into custody for storing the contaminated coconut oil.

Officials stated that the detained persons, aged 41 and 51, are inhabitants of Pannala and Santhiveli.

Moreover, 35 metal barrels carrying 7,700 liters of coconut oil, 36 barrels containing 7,920 liters of coconut oil, and the lorry utilized for distribution have been seized by law enforcement.

Further inquiries are being conducted by the Polonnaruwa Public Health Office.
