(LK time)Dishan Gunasekara, the ‘Basnayake Nilame’ of the Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya, has exited the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) premises after giving a statement for almost three hours.
Gunasekara arrived at the CID this morning in response to a recent notice instructing him to appear before the department and provide a statement.
Speaking to journalists, he disclosed that he was questioned about a residence built by Ven. Kiri Vehere Soratha Thero in Kataragama during the rule of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
“There is a house in Kataragama that was constructed when Mahinda Rajapaksa was President by Ven. Soratha Thero of Kiri Vehera. I have no accusations to level—I know the precise facts. The house was financed by Soratha Thero and built by a person named Wimalaratne. At the time, after the war ended, similar houses were put up for the former President, along with huts in various temples,” he explained.
