The Ella-Wellawaya highway has been obstructed near the 12th-kilometer mark due to a landslide caused by severe climatic conditions, the police reported.
The occurrence took place yesterday (13) near Karandagolla, inside the Ella Police jurisdiction, significantly disrupting vehicle movement on the primary route.
As a result, officers have advised drivers to seek different paths until the highway is reopened and deemed secure for travel.
Alternative Routes for Drivers:
- Ella to Wellawaya: Motorists may proceed via Uva Karandagolla, Bandarawela, and Ambadandegama.
- Wellawaya to Ella: Travelers can access Ella through Wellawaya and Ambadandegama.
