The Sri Lanka Grama Niladhari Association has declared that all female Grama Niladharis will cease night duties from today (14) due to escalating security risks.
Colombo District President Shamali Watsala Kulatunga stated that, along with ending night work, offices in unsafe or remote locations will be shut, with operations moved to secure areas.
Meanwhile, Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savitri Paulraj assured that necessary steps will be taken to protect women working night shifts. She made this remark while addressing media in Kandy.
