(LK time)The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, voiced hope that justice would be delivered before the sixth anniversary of the Easter Sunday bombings.
Addressing the Mass Communication Conference at the Archbishop’s House in Colombo today (15), Cardinal Ranjith warned that if justice is not ensured, taking to the streets in demonstration will be inevitable.
Elaborating further, he stated, “Leaders who governed the country made commitments regarding the Easter Sunday attacks, yet not a single promise was honoured. We supported this government to change that system. But if the system remains unchanged, we must reconsider.”
The Archbishop of Colombo also emphasised, “Regarding the Easter Sunday attacks, we continue to insist that the pledge made by the President at St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya must be fulfilled and immediate action taken.”
He added that if the government delivers a fair and acceptable resolution before the sixth anniversary of the Easter Sunday bombings, they will be content. However, he cautioned that failure to do so will leave them with no choice but to protest once more.
