Katana residents will face a prolonged 16-hour water cut today, as the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has declared that water supply to several localities in the city will be halted.
The NWSDB stated that the water cut will affect Bambukuliya, Muruthana, Katana North, Katana West, Katana East, Udangawa, Manaveriya, Thoppuwa, Kaluwarippuwa West, Upper Kandawala, Lower Kandawala, Welihena North, Welihena South, Adikkandiya, Ethgala, Ethgala South, Maha Ethgala, and Kaluwarippuwa East. The interruption will begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow (17) and conclude at midnight today.
According to the Water Board, the disruption is required for ongoing essential maintenance activities under the Ambatale Water Supply System Improvements and Energy Saving Project.
The NWSDB has urged residents in the affected areas to prepare by storing sufficient water during the interruption.
Furthermore, the NWSDB has requested public assistance in conserving water during and after the suspension.
