(LK time)IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon, who had been avoiding court despite a warrant being issued, appeared before the Matara Magistrate’s Court a short while ago.
Yesterday, the Court of Appeal dismissed his writ petition without a hearing. He had requested an interim order to stop the enforcement of the Matara Magistrate’s Court’s decision regarding the incident.
Following this, the Court of Appeal instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to arrest Tennakoon immediately and present him in court.
In response, he appeared before the Matara Magistrate’s Court this morning (19) through his lawyers.
