(LK time)Arjun Aloysius, the head of W.M. Mendis Liquors, along with two associates, was freed from remand custody today after serving time for failing to pay a Rs. 3.5 billion Value Added Tax (VAT).
Prison spokesman Gamini Dissanayake verified their release from Welikada Jail.
The trio had been jailed for six months by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court in October last year for the VAT evasion.
