A female Chinese traveler aboard a train heading from Nanu Oya to Badulla on the Up-country Railway Line sustained serious injuries after falling from a moving train near the Idalgashinna tunnel today (09).
She was first admitted to the Haputale Divisional Hospital, then transferred to Diyatalawa Base Hospital for further care, and later moved to Badulla Teaching Hospital.
The injured 35-year-old Chinese national had been leaning out of the train when she hit her head on the 19th railway tunnel in Idalgashinna, causing her to fall.
Following the incident, she was initially transported by train before being taken to the hospital via the ‘1990’ ‘Suwa Seriya’ ambulance service.
She has suffered severe head and leg wounds, and her condition remains critical, according to hospital sources.
