The Vavuniya High Court has punished former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Lalith Jayasinghe with four years of rigorous imprisonment for unlawfully releasing a detainee linked to the gang assault and murder of 18-year-old student S. Vidya in Punguduthivu in 2015.
