Indictments have been filed against former Minister Piyankara Jayaratne at the Colombo High Court today, February 18.
The charges are related to an alleged corruption offense, where Jayaratne is accused of influencing officials from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to deposit Rs. 494,000 into a bank account in Chilaw during his tenure as the Minister of Civil Aviation.
The indictment sheets, filed by the Bribery Commission, were submitted to the court in front of High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne today.
Following the proceedings, the Judge granted the former Minister release on two surety bails, each amounting to Rs. 500,000.
