The lifeless body of a man with gunshot injuries was discovered on Uswetakeiyawa beach in Ja-Ela after an anonymous tip-off to Pamunugama Police this morning.
Following the alert, officers from Pamunugama Police examined the Morganwatte beach in Uswetakeiyawa, where they located the body.
The victim was found with bullet wounds, and police recovered 09 empty cartridges along with a live T-56 round nearby.
Initial findings indicate that the homicide occurred last night (20 Feb).
The deceased has been identified as a 40-year-old man from Kadawatha.
Authorities are still working to determine the motive behind the killing and to identify those responsible.
Pamunugama Police has initiated a full-scale investigation into the incident.
