A man was fatally shot by an armed attacker who arrived on a motorcycle with an accomplice at Galpoththa Junction in Kotahena this evening (21), police confirmed.
However, the suspected gunmen were captured by Grandpass Police while attempting to escape.
Authorities seized the T56 firearm allegedly used in the attack.
The victim, identified as 37-year-old Shashi Kumar, was gunned down while inside a mobile phone accessory store on Kotahena Street.
After the shooting, he was rushed to Colombo National Hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
The reason behind the attack remains unclear, and Kotahena Police have launched a full investigation into the incident.
