Mark Carney Takes Over as Canada’s PM.!

Mark Carney has been sworn in as Canada’s prime minister after Justin Trudeau officially stepped down, as the country faces concerns over sovereignty from Donald Trump and a trade dispute with the United States.

The former central banker, who has never held public office in Canada, is stepping in to tackle key challenges, including US tariffs, and to lead the Liberal Party into an election later this year.

Carney took office after Trudeau resigned on Friday, ending nearly a decade in power.

Trudeau announced his departure in January as polls suggested his party was headed for defeat. However, Liberal support has grown amid rising Canadian opposition to Trump’s policies.

In a farewell message posted on X on Friday, Trudeau stated, “Thank you, Canada – for trusting in me, for challenging me, and for allowing me the honour to serve the best country and the best people on earth.”
