(LK time)President Anura Kumara Dissanayake revealed that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had received free medicines worth Rs. 800,000 through the military hospital over a period of just four months.
Speaking on the matter, President Dissanayake stated that some of the medicines provided were unsuitable for the former President’s age.
He emphasized that such incidents reflect a broader issue where certain groups exploit public funds for personal benefits without accountability.
“There is a need to end this culture of misuse,” the President asserted, adding that significant reforms are required to address these systemic problems and ensure fairness in the use of public resources.
