In an attempt to ease the rising cost of living, the Sri Lankan government has announced the distribution of subsidized ‘Seasonal Food Packages’ during the upcoming New Year season.
This initiative is designed to assist citizens by providing basic food items at reduced prices, as revealed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his 2025 Budget address.
The government plans to distribute Dry Food Rations, which will include rice, canned fish, dhal, onions, potatoes, and dried fish, at discounted prices through Lanka Sathosa Ltd.
To fund this initiative, the government has set aside Rs. 1,000 million.
